From the Pittsburgh Times-Tribune:
As lawmakers face calls to stay in session continuously until a state budget is approved, five of their senior colleagues are going about their business under varying degrees of legal jeopardy.
Senate Democratic Leader Robert J. Mellow, D-22, Peckville, is the newest addition to the list that includes two former House speakers facing public corruption charges. Mr. Mellow’s Archbald home and district office in Peckville were raided Friday by FBI and Internal Revenue Service agents as part of a criminal investigation into unspecified illegal activities.
Mr. Mellow was not on the Senate floor Monday and was instead at the Peckville office, which had reopened for business after being closed on Friday.
Aides anticipate Mr. Mellow’s return to the Capitol later this week. Mr. Mellow has ceded the public spotlight to other caucus members since he announced plans in February not to seek re-election.
