Day six of RTC’s watch for Senator Mellow

RocktheCapital has tried in earnest every day for the past six days to talk to Senator Robert Mellow about an ethics investigation, but the Senator does not return our calls and neither does anyone else from his office of communications.
Mellow is paid to sit on the board of an insurance company as well as a bank. A clear conflict of interest for someone in his position, which is why Eric Epstein, a founder of RocktheCapital filed a complaint before the Senate Ethics Committee last February.
A week ago the committee, voted to “stay” its decision, which Epstein quips has come to mean members will put it off indefinitely and let Mellow peacefully retire at the end of the year.
“This was not the check and balance system our Founding Fathers had in mind. Balancing your personal checkbook with political contributions, is a twisted and illegal interpretation of the Constitution.”
Mellow has also come under federal scrutiny. Earlier this year, FBI Agents and the IRS carted off documents from Mellow’s home and and district office in Peckville. We do not know where that investigation stands. Mellow is not facing any criminal charges.
We have also tried several times to reach Senator Charles McIlhinney, he is the Chairman of the Senate Ethics Committee. McIlhinney does not return our calls.
While the ethics committee is putting off the investigation — we here at RTC will keep trying to uncover the reasons behind the committee’s decision, or lack of one.
