Pennsylvania is vibrantly green

500 million is a big time number, so big, it has landed Pennsylvania a place in the top five. The U.S Environmental Protection Agency released its list of top 50 businesses that use the most renewable electricity.

And, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the government itself, takes the top five spot by purchasing 500 million kilowatt hours of green power.

Green energy is produced with technologies sensitive to the environment, which results in producing no net increase to greenhouse gas emissions, and will speed up development of more renewable energy nationwide.

Also, finishing in the top 50: The University of Pennsylvania increased its green power purchases by 48%. The Intel corporation bought 1.4 billion KWH of green energy making it the number on green power purchaser in the U.S.
