Transparency in the oil & gas industry

Pennsylvania’s Department of Environmental protection unveiled a new website that will monitor the state’s oil and gas industry like never before.

The new site, as Rock The Capital reported, will list all violations and, chart well production, waste material, and compliance in general.

“It’s important that families know what is happening in their backyards and whether or not the company drilling there has a good track record of safe and environmentally sound operations,” said DEP Secretary John Hanger.

ACT 15 requires companies drilling the depths of the Marcellus play to report well production totals every six months. All other production outside of the Marcellus will be required every six months.

“It is absolutely essential for the oil and gas industry to be excellent in their operations to protect public health and our environment,” Hanger said.
