In recent years, Pennsylvania citizens have witnessed a sad parade of scandals and lapses of judgment by public officials. During this period the Legislative Audit Advisory Commission has delayed the release of the Legislature’s Annual Audit.
As you know, the audit for a previous fiscal year is usually approved in December, but that timetable has slipped to April, May and as late as June last year. Last year you vowed to reverse the trend of tardy audits. “I certainly would hope to have an entirely different schedule for the next one. It’s not my practice to be like this.”
