We need to be sensitive to the impact of increased property taxes on “low-income” seniors or people living on a “fixed income.” However, not all  seniors on fixed incomes are also “low-income” households.

We have to be concerned for all low-income home owners, whether seniors or young homeowners struggling to meet a mortgage and raise a family.

Dauphin County has established criteria that identifies eligibility, and created a deferral option available to all low-income home owners: Act 50, Real Property Tax Deferral.

Many counties throughout the state have adopted a similar program.

We encourage low-income homeowners inDauphin County to take  advantage of Act 50, Real Property Tax Deferral (1998).

Applications are available on our web site and the Dauphin County web site.
