Starting on August 26, callers in the 717 area code region will need to dial ten-digit phone numbers, including the area code. This change was caused by the depletion of new 717 telephone numbers. The Public Utility Commission approved a new 223 area code, which will be released on September 26. You can still obtain a 717 number while supplies last. After August 26, the 814 region will be the only area where seven-digit dialing still exists.
